Lavinia Theodoli Spirito is a Lexington attorney and businessperson. She serves as appointed counsel in Dependency, Neglect and Abuse Court in Fayette County Family Court and, as she is fluent in Spanish also represents members of the Hispanic community in various matters. She also speaks Italian and French. Mrs. Spirito serves as Teaching Leader for the Catholic Way Bible Study based in Lexington but distributed across the nation and abroad. She hosts a weekly radio show on WMJR 1380AM/94.9FM. After growing up in Rome, Italy and receiving a Bachelors of Art in Anthropology and Spanish from the University of Michigan, Lavinia came to Lexington in 1981 to attend the University of Kentucky College of Law from which she graduated in 1984 with a Juris Doctor degree. She is currently working on a Masters in Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Spirito presently serves on the Board of Directors of WMJR1380AM/94.9FM, the Board of Directors of CWBS, is a member of the Fayette Bar Association and attends the Cathedral of Christ the King. She is married to Dr. Michael A. Spirito and is the mother of two beautiful daughters, Mary and Francesca. Spiritoís roots run deep in Lexington, as her great grandfather T.C. Geary owned both the Dixie Bell dairy and Geary-Wright Tobacco companies in Fayette County and her motherís family has resided here since before the Civil War. Her grandmother, Mrs. Le Grand Scott Briggs, was a founding member of the League of Women Voters in Fayette County and a long time supporter of Womenís Rights.
